Music Genome Project

1: I chose Alternative Music for my genre, because it is my favorite genre, and normally has actual meaning in the lyrics.

2: I was able to use some songs from my itunes library, and others I got from YouTube via Zamzar. Zamazr was difficult at points, but it pulled through and got me my music and videos in the end.  I found a very good site with all the information I needed, and it confirmed many thoughts  I had about the alternative genre.

3:I used Zamzar, Garageband, and iMovie to create my project.

The best part of my project was finding the songs from my own library that I wanted to use, because I love alternative, and I knew which videos had a point that would be good for a transition into the next song.

4: I struggled with timing the transitions right for a while, but what really got me was getting the music from Garageband to iMovie, and putting in videos and music that I got from the internet.

5: I decided to use plenty of still slides, because I liked how the Ken Burns effect looked with zooming them out, and I think it helps to focus a viewer's attention more on the text I put in about alternative music.

6: I actually became better than I ever thought I would be with Garageband, iMovie, and Zamzar than I ever thought I would be, and could use this for Biology, World Studies, or any class where I might need to make a presentation. It will also come in handy if I ever need to make a presentation for my job.

7: My music, pictures, and videos from the internet were changed because they were used for my educational purposes (which is not what they were intended for), and because they were cut up and transitioned into other music, videos, or pictures.

8: I probably would not like to do a project too much like this on my own again, because even though I learned a lot, I am not too good with computers, and it was very frustrating at points. It also kept me up late at night working on it, but that was partly my fault. Still, I thought this project was pretty good, and I would like to do something like it again, but not something exactly like it (because I'm bad with computers).

Music Genome Project

PND Culture: Football

1. Identify your team's topic

 A: Our team's topic was the PND football program.

2. Describe your role on the team.

 A: On out team I helped film, ask questions, and set up the story board and questions that we used.

3. What did you learn from being a part of this team?

 A: From being on this team I learned how to share documents in Gmail and use the green-screen affect in iMovie.

4. What went well for you as a team?

A: The interviews went very well for our team, and ran smoothly.

5. What did not go well for you as a team?

A: A lot of times we were not sure what we were supposed to do next, or didn't have enough ready to do for everyone in the group to be doing something at the same time.

6. Describe the process from storyboarding through the movie creation. Did ideas/concepts/focus change from one kind of technology to the other? If so, how?
A: While we were making our storyboard we were each coming up with good questions that we should ask in our interviews, and questions that people might have that would need to be answered.We changed from just recording you also using the green screen affect.

7. What new tools and techniques did you learn by doing this project?
A: We used imovie and the green screen affect in this project, which were new to us.

8. For what other classes, situations, uses could this type of project be adapted?
A: This could be used for any class where I need to make a convincing presentation, such as Literature. This would also come in handy if I ever needed to make a presentation or interview someone for my job.

9. How did your project use the transformative property of borrowed images, music, and information to comply with the Copyright Law of 1976? [...not just that you cited the information - citing is not enough...tell me how you transformed what you've taken into something new, etc., How did you transform the music, information, images, etc.? We took images from Google, and used them for backgrounds, which is not what they were originally intended for.

10.Would you do another project like this on your own? Why? Why not?

I would not want to do another project exactly like this, but one like it, because I didn't do as much of the parts with iMovie or the green screen affect as Max or Tate did. I would like to learn how to use both of those features, though.

iPhoto name reflection

I searched google images with the words "The Letter N" to find my N, and that is the only letter I got from the internet. I had to because I did not have any pictures that looked like an N.

I learned how to put music into my slideshow, and how to choose how long each slide lasts.

I could be giving an iPhoto presentation and need some slides to last longer than others so I can go into detail, or so my audience can get a good look at it.

This project was definitely more creative than our first too, and I liked it a lot more. I definitely prefer projects like this over the ones we did with word and excel.

My project did not interfere with copyright law, because it was for scholarship. I edited some of my images using iPhoto and used them for a different purpose, which added value to them.
